In 1983, Kenichi Hirono joined Mitsubishi Estate. For more than 35 years, he worked at the forefront of urban development, area management, public-private collaboration, culture, and community. His work is more than a record of achievement. It reflects an ability to see where value will emerge next.

For more than 35 years, he has created the conditions for that movement.
Entered the field.
Joined Mitsubishi Estate and began building practical knowledge in urban development and area management: how cities are planned, shaped, and brought to life.
Helped shape urban models in Tokyo and Osaka.
Contributed to redevelopment in Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho, as well as Grand Front Osaka, helping shape approaches to urban development recognized in Japan and internationally.
Turned collaboration into action.
Advanced urban revitalization, including the use of National Strategic Special Zones, and helped deliver projects involving government, companies, communities, and specialists.
Brought culture into everyday urban life.
Created opportunities for new urban experiences through initiatives such as Tokyo Millenario, open-air cafés, La Folle Journée Tokyo, and Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi.
Built a place for knowledge to meet.
Helped launch and operate OCA TOKYO, a membership community where executives, entrepreneurs, researchers, and cultural leaders come together.

Today, he serves as an advisor to companies and organizations while collaborating with universities and research institutions to support next-generation leaders and address social challenges.

Revisiting the work of his father, Yoshikichi Hirono — a leader in international cooperation and development economics — has widened his perspective beyond cities and economies, toward the sustainable development of human society.
